He was the patriarch of a large, respected Russell Co., KY, family. His living descendants number 45. He was a lawn care service worker and a member of the Rowena Holiness Church. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force.

Johnny Popplewell, Half Acre RD, Russell Springs, KY, died Saturday, November 27, 2010, at 6:30pmCT, at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

The funeral will be at 1pmCT, Wednesday, November 30, 2010, at the Wilson Funeral Home, 291 E. Steve Wariner DR, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Wayne Keith the officiating clergy. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Tuesday, November 29, 2010, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Russell Springs, KY.

Johnny Popplewell, Russell Co., KY (1933-2010)

Johnny Popplewell was the son of the late Silvanus and Margaret Elizabeth Skaggs Popplewell. He was born Monday, January 30, 1933 in Jamestown, Russell Co., KY, and died Saturday, November 27, 2010, in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY, at the age of 77 years, 9 months, and 28 days.

He was a lawn care service worker and was affiliated with the Rowena Holiness Church. He served his country in the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Martin) Popplewell, Russell Springs, KY, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Brenda Dial and Lorene "Lori" Stephens, both of Russell Springs, KY

  • Two sons: John Popplewell of Russell Springs, KY; and Paul Popplewell, Lexington, KY

  • Three step-daughters: Linda McGowan, Jamestown, KY; Anita Kacar, Butler, OH; and Karen Zimmerman, Roswell, GA

  • One step son: Jack Shaffer, Louisville, KY

  • A sister: Busie Buesing, Warrensburg, MO

  • Twenty five grandchildren

  • Sixteen great grandchildren
