A Columbia Magazine.com Group at Flickr Red Letter Day Thanks to all 100 contributing photographers There are now 100 photographers registered in the ColumbiaMagazine Group at Flickr.com. ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr.com is a wonderful place for the community of photographers to share information of a more technical nature - shop talk - if you will. Photographers who participate in the group pick from their best to nominate photos for the far wider audience in ColumbiaMagazine.com, and the editors at CM in turn, pick what they think are the very best of the nominations to present to CM readers. Now, with 100 photographers enrolled, the selection pool is getting much greater. Photos selection is based on newsworthiness and aesthetics, availability of adequate cutline information, and other criteria. For the most part, photos with graphics are not used, but occasionally, quiet, simple watermarks are allowed on CM. People photos, but only those with identifications of the people, rank highest among the picks. Animal, bird, and wildlife photos, especially ones which include location and informative descriptive material, rank high. And, at this stage of technology available to consumers of CM news, landscape/horizontally oriented photos are more likely to be posted on CM than vertical. If photography is your vocation, avocation, or simply a bit more than casual hobby, you're invited to apply for membership at ColumbiaMagazine.com Group at Flickr. To go directily. The link to join (on November 8, 2010; may change in the future) is in the menu bar under "ColumbiaMagazine" which also includes links to Group Pool, Discussion, Members Map, and to the very right, "Join this Group."
