Obituary: Dr. L. Palmer Young, Casey Co., KY native

Dr. L. Palmer Young, Dunnville, Casey Co., KY native (1921-2010): Visitation will be held at Tates Creek Christian Church, 3150 Tates Creek RD, Lexington, KY on Sunday, November 7, from 3-7pmET. Services will be at Tates Creek Christian at 11amET, Monday, November 8, 2010, with a visitation at 10amET. Burial will be at the Lexington Cemetery, 833 West Main ST, Lexington, KY following the service.

A Great Man of God went to Heaven Nov. 4, 2010

Dr. L. Palmer Young was A Great Man of God. He has left us. Dr. Young, of Lexington, KY went to Heaven on November 4, 2010. He was 89.

He loved to preach the Word, which he did for 69 years. He loved Jesus. He touched many lives and led many people to the Lord.



He was a loving husband to Elva, who went to Heaven a year ago.

He loved his children, James Young (Linda), Betty Miller (Glenn), and Robert Young (Claudia), and was a great father.

He loved his grandkids, Joshua and Seth Young, Jonathan Young, Beth Mattingly, and Julie Cox. He had 9 great grandchildren. He was a friend to many and was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Dr. Young was a country boy from Dunnville in Casey Co., KY and went to Kentucky Christian College in 1941.

He would also attend Cincinnati Christian College, Milligan College, and Lindsey Wilson College.

He led several churches in Kentucky and Tennessee: Old Orchard Church of Christ, Ashland, KY; First Christian Church in Kingsport, TN; South Louisville Christian Church, Louisville, KY and Gardenside Christian Church in Lexington, KY.

He served as the Minister of Evangelism at Southern Acres Christian Church, Lexington, KY.

Most recently, he was active at the Tates Creek Christian Church where he was teaching and preaching at every opportunity.

He served as President of Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, KY for 10 years from 1977 to 1987.

He served as president of the North American Christian Convention in Tampa, FL in 1967. He also served as president of the Southern Christian Convention and East Tennessee Christian Convention.

He was active in the Central Kentucky Christian Church Ministry Association. He served as a trustee at Milligan College, Kentucky Christian College, and Atlanta Christian College. He was active in many other Christian organizations too numerous to mention.

He was born July 17, 1921 to the late Luther and Rose Young in Dunnville, KY. His dad preached the Word for over 60 years. What a legacy these two men have left. Lewis Palmer Young "fought the good fight" and his reward in Heaven will be great.

His favorite verse was Romans 8:1, "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." He preached these words to thousands and many who heard those words are celebrating with him in Heaven today.

God is so good! Praise His Holy Name! Visitation will be held at Tates Creek Christian Church, 3150 Tates Creek RD, Lexington, KY on Sunday, November 7, from 3-7pmET. Services will be at Tates Creek Christian at 11amET, Monday, November 8, 2010, with a visitation at 10amET. Burial will be at the Lexington Cemetery, 833 West Main ST, Lexington, KY following the service.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the "Young Scholarship Fund" at Kentucky Christian College, 100 Academic Dr, Grayson, KY 4114
