WWII Veteran Carl Burris celebrates 88th birthday Gradyvillian celebrated event with large family at Shoney's in Glasgow, KY. Carl is a veteran who served in the United States Army Air Forces from December 26, 1942 to August 26,1945 and fought in WW II. He loves his country and he serves in his Lord's army By Melissa J. Keith Happy Birthday Carl Lewis "Pa" Burris. Carl turned 88 years young on Saturday, October 23,2010. He celebrated his birthday on Sunday, in one of his favorite fashions, with his family atthe Shoney's restaurant in Glasgow, KY. Carl has an extensive family and while not all couldattend the ones who were there certainly filled up the back room at Shoney's and had a greattime celebrating with him. Grew up in Gradyville community Carl grew up in the Gradyville community of Adair Co., KY with his parents the late Elmer andNonie Burris, and his sisters, Evalene Squires, the late Eldavee Irvin, and the late ErnestineBrown. Carl still lives in the Gradyville community, where he and his late wife Nora Bell SmithBurris raised their family of six daughters and 2 sons. The daughters are the late Patsy Posey(Austin Posey), Dorothy Stinson (Jack Stinson), Betty Keith (Clay Keith), Janice Byrd (TommyByrd), Wanda Kean (Joey Kean), Vickie Jessee (James Jessee) and the sons are Randall Burris(Sherry Burris), the late Glenn Burris (stillborn). Carl has 12 grandchildren: Ronald Stinson(and girlfriend Bridgett Gay), Melinda (Leslie) Willis, Donnie (Missy) Keith, Greg (Melissa)Keith, Daniel (Kim) Kean, Crystal (Terry) Judd, Kerry Byrd, Andy (Donna) Byrd, Chastity(Anthony) Janes, and Brittany (Jeremy) Dile, Jeremy Burris (and girlfriend Lisa Givens), Teresa(Kelly) Gibbons. Carl has 27 great-grandchildren, Natasha Stinson, Mathanial Grant, BonnieCary, Dustin Willis, Anthony Keith, Johnny Keith, Dylon Keith, Cameron Keith, Hunter Keith,Christopher Kean, Kyla Kean, Katelyn Kean, Ethan Kean, Madelyn Judd, Malory Judd, KristinaByrd, Lori Byrd, Darrin Byrd, Kayla Byrd, Caleb Janes, Peyton Janes, Ashley Blair, TimothyBlair, Colby Blair, Daniel Givens), Little Miss Baby Dile on the way. Carl also has 4 great-great-grandchildren, Devin Byrd, Zoey Grant, Alexander Grant, Dixon Cary. He is veteran of World War II Carl is a veteran who served in the United States Army Air Forces from December 26, 1942 to August 26,1945 and fought in WW II. He was a truck driver and hauled the supplies in the Army Air Forces and if you have the time to sit and listen he can tell you many fascinating things from his time inthe service, such as getting his first driver's license in Italy, and things you probably wouldn'twant to know about war. Carl loves his country and his family but most of all Carl loves the Lord. Carl has served in theLord's army almost all of his life and has raised his family to do the same. Attends House of Prayer in Edmonton, KY Carl has attended House of Prayer Church in Edmonton, KY, for years with the late Rev. Robert Carl Elmore as Pastor and the present pastor Rev.
