By Charles Marshburn

I was reading about the census in Adair County and noticed that the population in 1880 and 1970 were almost identical. Pretty good drop in population between 1950 and 1970. Greatest population in 1940. There must be a local historian with facts about these facts. Charles Marshburn

Thanks. Everyone is anxiously awaiting the 2010 census figures.

There's a fair chance that Adair County could have its highest ever population, which is my prediction, based on balance of students, with more resident students at Lindsey Wilson than leave Adair County; general growth patterns, and the Mass Influx of refuges coming here to escape the Hummer crushing Burmese Pythons which now control Florida.

Too, if one notes the population growth from 1990 to 2000, 1,988, and if that figure were matched, we'll be at 19,232. If we have the same percentage increase, we'll be at 19,475.
