Columbia, KY - The Saint Catharine (Ky.) College middle blockers kept setting up to defend Haley Barnes attacks, but the freshman found a way around them to tally a career-high 10 kills in Lindsey Wilson Colleges 3-1 (25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 25-14) win on Thursday at Biggers Sports Center.

Lindsey Wilson improved to 1-3 in Mid-South Conference play and 4-13 overall, while the Patriots fell to 0-3 in MSC action and 2-19 overall.

Sophomore Ashlie Haworth stayed aggressive throughout the match, ending with a match-high 12 kills and six digs. Newcomer Audra McNabney and junior Kayla Koerber added to the attack with nine and eight kills, respectively.

The sophomore tandem of Angela Mlachnik and Andrea Taylor continued to be effective passing the ball, as Taylor dished out a team-high 17 assists and Mlachnik added 13.

As a team, the Blue Raiders recorded 11 service aces with Haworth and McNabney leading the charge with three each.

Lindsey Wilson shot out of the gate to a 2-0 lead but failed to put the Patriots away in a third set full of errors. The Blue Raiders tallied just a .027 hitting percentage in the losing set, compared to the inspired .370 showing in the decisive fourth set.

Barnes emerged as a complimentary attacker to Haworth and McNabney tonight, showing an offensive flair that the Lindsey Wilson faithful had yet to see from the freshman from Lexington. Not only was Barnes effective with a .250 hitting mark, but she also dealt out five assists.

Rachael Anderson had a strong game on the back line, digging 24 balls while also receiving 25 serves. The junior also finished the night with a pair of service aces.

Shauna Stone led St. Catharine as the only player with double-digit kills with 10, while Randa Murohy added nine to the attack. Taylor Malott did send out a game-high 20 assists for the Patriots.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7pmCT on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, against Indiana University Southeast at Biggers Sports Center, 360 SPICKARD DR, Columbia, KY.
