Alvena Shoemaker, 91 died Friday September 17, 2010 in Kings Mountain, KY.

Funeral service is 2pmET/1pmCT, Wednesday September 22, 2010, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville ST, Liberty, KY, by Rev. James Ayars. Burial will be in Middleburg Cemetery, Middleburgh, Casey Co., KY



Alvena Shoemaker, 91, Casey Co., KY (1918-2010)

Alvena Shoemaker was born November 4, 1918 in Casey Co. KY. She was the daughter of the late William T. and Della Frederick Douglas. She died Friday, August 17, 2010, in Kings Mountain, KY at the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 13 days.

She was the widow of Ernest Shoemaker, a retired nurse, a Kentucky Colonel , and member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church .

In addition to her parents and husband , she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles L. Douglas and Glen F. Douglas.

Survivors include the following:
  • A daughter: Jean Ann Ayars of California

  • A son: William T. Shoemaker of Indiana

  • Two grandchildren: David Lanter and Amanda Foster

  • A great-grandchild: Derek Foster

  • Sisters: Lillian Brown of Florida

  • A brother, Dorsey Douglas of Nebraska
