Obituary: Artise R. Tarter, 98, Casey Co., KY

He was the patriarch of a prominent Casey Co., KY, family. He was a World War II veteran, a farmer, the founder of Tarter Feed Mill, and was a member of the the Liberty First Baptist Church

Artise R. Tarter, 98 of Liberty, KY, died Thursday, September 16, 2010, at his home.

Funeral service is 1pmET/12 noon CT, Tuesday September 21, 2010, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville ST, Liberty, KY, by Rev. Harry Dooley and Rev. Jimmy Brown. Burial is in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Funeral Squad. Visitation is Monday, September 6pm-9pmET/5pm-8pmCT, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers are Dr. A. F. Brown, Garland Sharp, Don Richardson, Billy Sellers, George Ledford, Billy Weddle and George Reed.

Artise R. Tarter, Casey Co., KY (1912-2010)

Born in Casey County on July 12, 1912, he is the son of the late John F. and Levona Riggins Tarter. He died Thursday, September 16, 2010, in Liberty, Casey Co., KY, at the age of 98 years, 2 months, and 4 days.

He was a WWII Army veteran, farmer, founder of Tarter Feed Mill and member of the Liberty First Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Anna "Pie"Jetter Tarter; sister, Ruth Beard and two brothers, Delmer and Curtis Tarter.

Survivors include wife Hope Robertson Tarter, and the following:
  • Daughter, Billye Ann and ( Bill) Hansford

  • Three grandchildren

  • Two step-grandchildren

  • Three great-grandchildren

  • Five step great-grandchildren

  • And a step great great grandchild
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church building fund, Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Somerset, KY or Lifeline Home Health, Liberty, KY.

McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville ST, Liberty, KY, in charge of arrangements.
