Big Al finds the 24 mile trip to Edmonton, KY's Sesquicentennial well worth it. Found Ribbon Potatoes and Funnel Cakes there to be very tasty
"I must say that our wonderful neighbors to the west are very fine hosts and it was a trip worthwhile." -BIG AL

By Big Al Owens, Big Rig Trucker

Saturday, September 4, 2010: Sheila, Wichita, and I cruised about 24 miles west of Columbia on the Cumberland Parkway to Edmonton, KY to help our fine neighbors celebrate their sesquicentennial tonight.

Sheila persuaded Wichita and me to go so she could see Clay Underwood, who is a male heartthrob from Munfordville, KY, and an aspiring country singer/songwriter.

Clay performed many classical country favorites for the crowd. He also did a few of his own songs from his New Beginnings And Old Honky Tonks CD.There was a loud roar from the crowd when he sang Wagon Wheel and the title song from his first release.

We had the opportunity to talk to Clay after the show and he explained that he is involved in the production of his music as he does not wish to reliquish control to the record label execs in Nashville.

I had never heard of him before tonight, but after watching his performance and interaction with the crowd, I walked away a fan of this up and coming artist.

Clay has had two singles break the top 40 chart so far and I believe that he has the talent to do this many times in the near future.

I must also admit that I had never heard of a Ribbon Tater before either, but after tasting this fine delicacy, I became a fan of them too. You can get them topped with either sour cream 'n onion or chili and cheese.

The funnel cakes are also very tasty in Metcalfe County. I must say that our wonderful neighbors to the west are very fine hosts and it was a trip worthwhile.
