Tiger Golf:
Lauren Goodin ties for 13th in Bill Sergent Invitational

Katie White and Kaela Smith tied each other for third place individually, while Campbellsville University women's golf mirrored its first round score Friday, September 3, 2010, to finish second at the Bill Sergent Invitational at Crooked Creek Golf Course in London, KY.



CU shot 326 during Thursday's first round, 15 strokes off the lead behind Lindsey Wilson College. The Lady Tigers were only 13 strokes behind the Blue Raiders Friday, but another 326 score kept CU from gaining much more ground on LWC. Campbellsville claims its runner-up finish with a two-day score of 652, while Lindsey Wilson shot 624.

White shot 82 on the first day to sit in a tie for seventh individually, while Smith shot 78 and 80 in her two rounds. Both finished at 158 in the two rounds combined.

"We have solid leadership on this year's squad," CU head coach Lindsey Hines said. "Kaela and Katie lead the Lady Tigers to a second place finish."

Kayla Kincer was third for CU and finished 12th individually with a 168. Lauren Goodin followed in a tie for third place at 13th at 169. CU's Amy Cline rounded out the scoring with a 182.

"I was very impressed with the composure of freshman Kayla Kincer of Elizabethtown, Ky. She competed like a veteran, and was a contributing factor to our success," Hines said.

University of the Cumberlands finished third as a team, 10 strokes behind Campbellsville.CU returns to action September 16-17, 2010 at the Mid-South Conference Fall Tournament, which will be hosted by Lindsey Wilson College at the Pines at Lindsey Wilson, 275 Country Club RD, Columbia, KY.
