News from Campbellsville University

Campbellsville, KY - David Yax, an artist from Cincinnati, OH, will have his artwork on display at Campbellsville University's Art Gallery, 205 University DR, Campbellsville, KYm through September 10, 2010. The gallery is open from 8amET-4pmET Monday through Friday. A reception in his honor is Saturday, September 4 from 3 to 4:30pmET in the gallery. Everyone is invited to attend both the reception and exhibit.

Yax, the youngest member to have ever been inducted into the Southen Kentucky Guildr of Artists and Craftsman, will show assemblages, paintings and mono prints.

His mono prints are one-of-a kind pieces of abstract art not computer generated. Thin layers of pure, dry, ground pigment, along with goldleaf, silver and colored foil, are themosealed onto paper. Each color and shape is added one at a time. Each piece is unique for this unusual process.

His paintings range from architectural to organic. Most of the paintings in the show are recent works produced in the last year.

Yax was a senior buyer and planner with Display Specialities Inc. in Wilder, KY, from 1989 to 2009. He directed, designed and sourced customer programs for Kroger, Walmart and other major retailers.

Yax said his artwork is not a hobby; it's a passion. He has been producing and selling artwork for over 30 years and has sold his artwork to clients nationwide.

He is a 1981 honors graduate from Franklin-Simpson High School, in Franklin, KY, and is a graduate of Western Kentucky University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1985.
