News from Somerset Community College

The Somerset Community College Upward Bound Program held its annual Banquet and Awards Dinner on July 23, 2010. The students who participated in the Upward Bound Program were from Casey County, Wayne County, Russell County, Clinton County and Monticello High School.

All students and their families were invited to attend and all who attended enjoyed seeing what the students had learned and created during their summer focus theme of "Keep It Clean, Go Green."

The Upward Bound Program serves high school students who are enrolled in grades 9-12 and meet federal guidelines. The goal of Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and enroll in and graduate from institutions of postsecondary education.

The students in Upward Bound are selected through an application and interview process. For more information you may contact the SCC Upward Bound Director, Judy Tallent, at (606) 387-3717
