Joe Hare: Salute to Vietnam Veterans
at Ft. Knox August 26, 2010


I have talked to several vets here in Adair County that are going and hope others can attend.

The US Army is hosting a salute to all Vietnam Veterans on August 26, 2010 at Ft. Knox, KY.

The following information on the event, is according to the Fort Knox Community Relations Office (502) 624-4985:


"Vietnam Veterans wishing to participate in the ceremony are asked to arrive at the Patton Museum off US 31W, at 9:15amET/8:15amCT to board Fort Knox Buses. The buses will leave the patton Museum at 9:40amET/8:40amCT for the ceremony at Fort Knox's Brooks parade Field.

"Family members of the Vietnam veterans are highly encouraged to attend the ceremony. If drivingto Fort Knox together, family members are asked to drop their veteran off at the Patton Museum and proceed to Brooks Parade Field (directional signage will be provided to guide the family members to the ceremony site).

"Free food and drink will be available at Brooks Parade Field following the ceremony. In addition, from 1-4pmET/Noon-3pmCT, everyone is welcome to take a bus windshield tour of Fort Knox. The tours are 1-hour long, beginning each hour, starting and ending at the patton Museum.

"Vietnam veterans planning to attend the ceremony are encouraged to register at www.salutetovietnamveterans.com. This website also provides information on other Vietnam veterans events occuring in Hardin County from August 26-29, 2010.

"For more information, contact the Fort Knox Community Relations Office at (502) 624-4985."
All Vietnam Veterans and their families are invited to attend. It should be a great day as Rolling Thunder and Patriotic Guard Riders will be escorting the buses with the vets on them to the parade grounds. I have talked to several vets here in Adair County that are going and hope other can attend. Joe Hare
