Obituary: Artis Byrd, 77, Casey Co., KY

He was the head of a large, respected Casey County family. He was a farmer and a member of the South Fork Separate Baptist Church

Artis Byrd, 77, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at his home in Liberty, KY.

The funeral service will be at 11amET/10amCT, Thursday, August 12, 2010, at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel, 142 KY 49, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Troy Coffey officiating. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery. Visitatation will be after 6pmET/5pmCT Wednesday, August 11, at the Bartle Funeral Home Chapel.



Pallbearers: Roger, Randy, Ray, Ronnie Joe, and Johnny Byrd, and Mike Stevens.

Artis Byrd, Casey Co., KY (1932-2010)

Artis Byrd was the son of the late John Henry and edith harris Byrd. He was born October 9, 1932 in Casey County, KY, and died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, in Liberty, Casey Co., KY, at the age of 77 years, 10 months, and 1 day.

He was a farmer and a member of the South Fork Separate Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Emerson Byrd, and the following:
  • Four sons: Roger Lee (Tina) Byrd, Campbellsville, KY; Ronald Gene (Shelby) Byrd, Moreland, KY; Randy (Sandra) Byrd and Ray Byrd, both of Liberty, KY

  • One daughter: Shirley (Mike) Stevens, Liberty, KY

  • Two brothers: Russell Byrd, Liberty, KY, and Ernest Byrd, Middleburg, KY

  • One sister: Hester Goode, Liberty, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Ronnie Joe Byrd, Tina Byrd, Johnny Byrd, Sarah Roy, Michelle Estes, and Cassie Byrd

  • Six great grandchildren: Anthony Davis; Emily, Jason, and Jasper Byrd; Krista Goode, and Kendrick Estes
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester, Wayne, and Arnold Byrd.

Bartle Funeral Home, 142 Hwy 49, Liberty, KY, in charge of arrangements.
