Obituary: Garvis D. Hopper, 77, Russell Co., KY

He was a member of the Calvary Separate Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a truck driver for Somerset Oil Co.

Garvis D. Hopper, Fair Oaks DR, Jamestown, KY, died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at Fair Oaks Nursing Home.

THe funeral service will be Thursday, August 12, 2010, at 2pmCT, at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main ST, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Matthew Dalton officiating and special music by the Polston Family. Burial will be in Free Union Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Wednesday, August 11, 2010.



Pallbearers: Adam Tilley, Jeffrey Bryan Hopper, Tim Pike, Eric Patton, Steve Kelsey, and Jason Hughes.

Garvis D. Hopper, Russell Co., KY (1932-2010)

Garvis D. Hopper was the son of the late Elsie Roy Hopper and Carlos Hopper. He was born Saturday, November 19, 1932 in Russell County, KY, and died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, in Jamestown, Russell Co., KY, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and 22 days.

He was a truck driver for Somerset Oil Co., a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a member of Calvary Separate Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Bryant Hopper.

He is survived by the following:
  • Three children: Tammy (Rick) Tilley, Somerset, KY; Jeffery (Betsy) Hopper, Elizabethtown, KY; Tracy (Sharon) Hopper, Russell Springs, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Bryan, Amy, Angela, Beth, Adam, and MacKenzie.

  • Five great grandchildren

  • Three brothers: Jack Hopper, Jamestown, KY; Richard Hopper, Shelbyville, IN; and Donald Hopper, Russell Springs, KY

  • Two sisters: Ferrell Hudson and Janet Gadberry, both of Russell Springs, KY
