Obituary: William James Smith, 80, Burkesville, KY He was a member of a prominent Cumberland Co., KY, family. He was a construction supervisor in the iron works industry, a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a member of the Bear Creek United Methodist Church Mr. William James Smith, age 80, of Burkesville KY, passed away on Sunday August 1, 2010 at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville KY. Funeral services for Mr. William James Smith were held on Tuesday August 3, 2010 in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville KY, with Bro. Gary Cash officiating. Burial was in the Modoc Cemetery. Pallbearers were Donnie Smith, Jimmy Smith, Paul Cheatham, Jr., Ray Montgomery, Chris Stilts and Danny Stilts, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Samuel Rice, David Flowers, Brian Flowers, Kris Curtis, Mark Clark and Donald Polston. Mr. William James Smith, Cumberland Co., KY (1929-2010) Mr. William James Smith was born in the Christian Chapel Community of Cumberland Co., KY on Tuesday, October 1, 1929, the son of Will and Altie Neeley Smith, and died Sunday, Auugst 1, 2010, in Burkesville, Cumberland Co., KY, at the age of 80 years and 10 months. He was a construction supervisor in the iron works industry, a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and a member of the Bear Creek United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Joyce Brake Smith, Burkesville, KY, His brother: Hubert Nell Smith, his sisters, Mattie Cheatham and Mary "Moot" Riley. Survivors include his wife, Linda Capps Smith of Burkesville, KY
