Obituary: Dorothy Mae Jeffries Pierce, 77, Green Co., KY

She was the head of a large, respected Green County family and was a member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church. She leaves 33 direct living descendants.

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Jeffries Pierce, 77, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Golden Living Center-Greenhill, Greensburg, KY.

The funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Mae Jeffries Pierce will be conducted at 12 noon CT, Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 Main ST, Greensburg, KY with burial to follow in the Warf Cemetery. Visitation is requested from 4 to 9pmCT, Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Wednesday, July 7, 2010, until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers: Great granchildren and great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Jeffries, Green Co., KY (1932-2010)

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Jeffries Pierce of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Willie Jeffries and Dora Coomer Jeffries, was born on November 14, 1932 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the Golden Living Center-Greenhill. She was 77 years, seven months and 20 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greasy Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker.

She united in marriage to Garvis Pierce on September 3, 1949 who survives.

Other survivors include the following:
  • Two daughters and sons-in-law: Doris Dean and Randy Simpson, and Diane and Scott Sallee all of Greensburg, KY

  • Two sons and a daughter-in-law: Donald Pierce and Timothy and Peggy Pierce all of Greensburg, KY

  • A brother: Mitchell Jeffries of Greensburg, KY

  • A sister: Cleo Pierce of Greensburg, KY

  • Fourteen grandchildren

  • Twelve great-grandchildren

  • Three great-great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Mrs. Pierce was also preceded in death by an infant son: Roger Dale Pierce on May 22, 1953; two brothers and two sisters: Roxie Thompson, Garnett Jeffries, Olen Jeffries and Helen Creason; and two great-grandchildren.

The Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, in charge of arrangements.
