By Ludora Perkins

On Monday, June 28, a group of forty-five travelers from the local area as well as surrounding counties and states left Columbia, KY, for a trip to Branson, MO.

The group members were Betty Arnold, Wanda Bardin, Mary Ann Brown, Judy Burton, Randall Burton, Virginia Caffee, Terry Carter, Jack Collins, Margie Collins, Sallie Cook, Mary Annis Cooley, Dalton Coomer, Faye Coomer, Paul Cottrell, J. B. Crawley, Janet Deener, Elaine Hatfield, Georgia Hatfield, Travis Hatfield, Rev. Lewis Haynes, Mary Haynes, Nita Hesford, Joyce Hubbard, Susan Huckaby, Nellie Karnes, Catherine Kearney, Jesse Kendall, Lois Kendall, Laverne Kennon, Julie Knifley, Kathy McCubbin, Danny Moore, Phyllis Moore, Mary Kathryn Murphy, Billy Murrell, Rita Murrell, Rhonda Nichols, Kim Perkins, Ludora Perkins (group leader), Pauline Pike, Jean Sanders, Lucille StClair, Teresa Smith, Danny Woodcox, and Mary Woodcox.

The first day, on the way to Branson, the travelers drove through St. Louis, MO where they had a spectacular view of the "Gateway to the West" - the St. Louis Arch. Before stopping for the night, the group had a delicious meal at the famous Lambert's Cafe, The Home of Throwed Rolls.

The next day, the group saw a show at the Branson Imax Theater which was entitled Ozarks Legacy & Legends. The screen is 6 stories tall and 83 feet wide so everyone had a fantastic view!

After that, it was on to the Branson Scenic Railroad for a relaxing train ride. The group enjoyed lunch while on board the train. The evening show was a music and comedy show called The Presleys' Country Jubilee. It was an excellent show which everyone enjoyed.

On Wednesday, the group relaxed at the hotel in the morning and then ventured to the Branson Showboat for a luncheon cruise. The meal was fantastic and the floorshow was memorable. A member of our group, Lois, was even called on stage to assist the emcee in one of his acts! The evening's entertainment was The Baldknobbers which was a music and comedy show.

Thursday was another busy day for sightseeing. The travelers were fortunate to see the newest show in Branson called New South Gospel. As the name implies, the show featured a quartet of gospel singers singing classic as well as modern gospel songs. Additional performers joined in the show and the audience participated in some sing-alongs which was a real treat.

The last show of the week was the Yakov Moscow Circus Dinner Expo. This show featured jugglers, trained bear and dog acts, acrobats and an authentic Russian meal. It had something for everyone.

On Friday, July 2, the group boarded the coach and returned to Columbia with great memories of their Branson trip.
