Obituary: John (Billy) Whitlock, 76, Adair Co. native

An Adair County native, Mr. Whitlock was a member of a highly regarded Columbia family. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church, Somerset, KY, and was retired from the John Sherman Cooper Power Plant at Burnside

John "Billy" Whitlock, Somerset, KY, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010.

The funeral service will be Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 2pmET/1pmCT, at the Grace Baptist Church, 120 Losey ST, Somerset, KY, Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8pmET/5-7CT, at the Grace Baptist Church. Burial will follow the funeral at the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY.



John "Billy" Whitlock, Adair County native (1933-2010)

He was born December 1, 1933, in Adair County, KY, to John Willie and Lizzie Whitlock. He died Monday, June 14, 2010, at the age of 76 years, 6 months, and 13 days.

John was a veteran of the United States Army, and was retired from the John Serman Cooper Power Plant in Burnside, KY.He was preceded in death by his wife, Maedell; one sister, Lorean; and one brother, Hubert.He is survived by the following:
  • One son; Roger, and his wife Glenda Whitlock

  • Two daughters: Robin Wilson, and Lori and her husbanbd, Claude Hoffman

  • A sister: Pauline Warren of Indiana,

  • Five grandchildren: Emily, Christina, and Andrew Wilson and Benjamina and Nicholas Hoffman

  • Several nieces and nephews
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund in John's memory.
