Hospital Auxiliary News for April 2010 Card sent to Ruth Thomas wishing her a happy 100th Birthday. Mikki Flowers, Maggie Janes, and Jacob Grider are special guests of the Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary By Sue C. Stivers Membership & Public Relations Chairman The Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary met Monday, April 19, 2010 at 6:30pmCT at the Hospital Cafe for their monthly meeting. President Margaret Sparks called the meeting to order by welcoming the members, along with visitors, Mikki Flowers, Maggie Janes and Jacob Grider. It was good to have members Betty Thorsen and Lila Loy with us as it had been some time since they were able to be in attendance. Financial report by Treasurer Evelyn Phelps There were no minutes read due to the absence of Secretary Sharon Harris. The financial report was given by Treasurer Evelyn Phelps. Ruth Thomas will celebrate 100th birthday Get well cards were signed and sent to Jeanette Montgomery and Frances Cunningham, and a card to Ruth Thomas who would be celebrating her 100th birthday. Scrub sale had profit of $350 President Sparks gave a report on the scrub sale that was held recently and that a profit of $350.00 was made. The proceeds will be used to improve the hospital and the community. It was announced that only 10 bags of pecans are left and are for sale at the gift shop. The gift shop also has a variety of plants for sale which are donated by Margie Coffey. The Auxiliary wants to say a special "thank you" to her for donating these nice vegetable plants, flowers, etc. This has become a tradition since she had been doing this for several years. Margie...We do appreciate you. Volunteers needed for gift shop President Sparks again stated that workers were needed in the gift shop and if anyone would like to volunteer for a couple of hours each week or to work on a Sunday afternoon to contact her at 384-4139. Charles Marshall, Sue Stivers, and Wanda Bardin on nominating committee President Sparks appointed Charles Marshall, Sue Stivers and Wanda Bardin to serve on the nominating committee for new officers. The committee will report at the May meeting. Plans underway for upgrading gift shop A discussion was held on upgrading the gift shop with new carpet, shelving, chair, etc. Yvonne Marshall, Shirley Grider, Margaret Sparks and Charles Marshall will serve on the committee. Plans were made to ask the Heads of the various Departments of the hospital to provide a wish list for their respective department and the Auxiliary would consider purchasing some of the items for improving the hospital. Selection of items to purchase will be made at a later date. Shirley Grider gives inspirational reading Since there was no speaker, Shirley Grider gave an inspirational reading and led the group in a game. Evelyn Phelps and Yvonne Marshall served delicious refreshments to Wanda Bardin, Louise Brock, Shirley Grider, Shirl Moore, Charles and Yvonne Marshall, Lila Loy, Betty Thorsen, Margaret Sparks, Mary Evelyn Walker, Evelyn Phelps, Shirley Reliford, Shirley Grider, Mikki Flowers, Maggie Janes and Jacob Grider. Next meeting is Monday, May 17, 2010 The next meeting will be held Monday, May 17, 2010 at 6:30pmCT,at the Hospital Cafe. Hostesses will be Mary Evelyn Walker and Louise Brock.
