Daytrip to Subtle, KY: BJ Fudge recommends About: Scenic Metcalfe Co, KY: Subtle Store photo by Derek Coomer By Billy Joe Fudge The Subtle Store is on Subtle-Garrett Creek Road about a .10 mile East of its intersection with Highway 496. Is the store still open? If so, based on my past experiences eating there and getting full for under $2.00, I might start driving down there for lunch. I would probably save money. This is a perfect area for a Day Trip for folks in this area. Subtle is in the heart of one of the most pristine, rural, wooded areas in South Central Kentucky. The area is bounded on four corners by the Village of Breeding, the town of Burkesville, the village of Beaumont, and the town of Edmonton. This area is very rural and intersected by very few narrow, scenic roadways that should be traveled at below 45 mph to be able to observe the beautiful countryside safely.
