Obituary: Marty Owen Smith, 48, Jeffersonville, IN

He was a member of a respected Metcalfe County family. He was a retired manager of KCW Tire Company of Alabama and was of the Baptist faith.

Marty Owen Smith, age 48, of Jeffersonville, IN died Sunday, March 14, 2010 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held 2pmCT, Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Garrett Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4pm until 8pmCT, Wednesday, March 17, 2010, and after 9amCT, Thursday, March 18, at the funeral home.



He was the son of the late Garnett Smith and Dolly (Young) Garrett of Bee Springs, KY, who survives. Marty was retired manager of KCW Tire Company of Alabama and was of the Baptist faith.

Besides his mother he is survived by the following:
  • A: sister Debbie Whitaker of Bee Springs, KY

  • A nephew: Casey (Amanda) Whitaker of Bee Springs, KY

  • Two great nephews and one great niece

  • A special friend: Robert Lewzader and son Greg

  • Three aunts and one uncle: Lorene Robertson, Christine Wilson, Lois Chism and Jimmy Young.
Besides his father he was preceded in death by his step father, Dewey "Pete" Garrett and maternal grandparents, Jack and Susie Young.

Butler Funeral Home, Edmonton, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
