Obituary: Joe Robert Coe, 79, Cumberland Co., KY native

Mr. Coe was a member of a large, respected South Cumberland Co., KY family. He spent his adult life in Chicago, IL, where he was a bricklayer and mechanic. He was a member of the Holy Ghost Church. His marriage to Delphia Coe endured 64 years

Joe Robert Coe, age 79 of Chicago, IL, formerly of Burkesville, KY passed away on Monday, March 08, 2010 in Chicago, IL.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at 1pmCT, at the Coe Ridge Cemetery in Cumberland County, KY with burial to follow. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main ST, Burkesville, KY is in charge of funeral arrangements


Joe Robert Coe, 79, Cumberland Co., KY native (1931-2010)

Joe Robert Coe was the son of the late Joe and Ruia Wilburn Coe. He was born Tuesday, March 03, 1931 in Cumberland Co., KY and died Monday, March 8, 2010, in Chicago, Cook Co., IL at the age of 79 years and 5 days.He was a bricklayer, a mechanic, and a member of the Holy Ghost Church.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Delphia Coe, Chicago, IL, and the following:
  • Three daughters: Marilyn Coe, Kim Johnson and her husband Kelvin, and Margaree Coe, all of Chicago, IL

  • One Son: Rev. Lenell Coe and his wife Laura, Chicago, IL

  • Three sisters: Lucy Anders and Laurie Jackson, both of Chicago, IL, and Louise Cary of Burkesville, KY

  • Four brothers: Clenard Coe of Chicago, Illinois, Fraheise Coe and Webb Coe both of Burkesville, KY, and Lindberg Coe of Indianapolis, IN
  • and a host of grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

    In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sons, Rex Coe, Paul Coe, and Jr. Coe, two sisters, Callie Range, and Wanda Coe, and three brothers, Roy Hall Coe, Gene Coe, and Merle Coe.
