Old Coddger suggests giving
security guards time to settle into jobs

Security at the new Adair County Judicial Center

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I have just read the article on the front page and it appears there is some common sense in play concerning the items not allowed in the justice center building.

There is one item on the list I really don't understand. I am not educated in all these police and security things, but if steel toed shoes are not allowed that is going to be very inconvenient to several people.

It might be a little more work for the security guards, but we have got 8 new ones, so I feel they would have time. I don't think these shoes would be any more of a threat in a court house than they would on a commerical airline flight, and I don't see them on the list of the TSA site of items not allowed to be on planes.

I really don't see where steel toed shoes are a weapon any more than any all leather boot.

Let us recheck the steel toed shoes tomorrow. It could be they just have to be removed while going through the scanner. We'll recheck that. And we're waiting for the full document to arrive. It may be something that we can link to or post on CM. Like your patience, though. It's fair to expect a few start up problems on any new facility whether it's a business or government building or even a new home. -EW
