Obituary: Henry Wood Bagby, 85, Louisville, KY

Mr. Bagby was a native of Green Co., KY, and was a member of a large respected family. He was a member of Ralph Avenue Baptist Church in Shively, KY and was retired from American Standard, where he worked for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II, and will be accorded full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Mr. Henry Wood Bagby, 85 of Louisville, KY, departed this life on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Summerfield Health and Rehab Center in Louisville. He was 85 years of age.

The funeral services for Mr. Henry Wood Bagby will be held at 10amCT, Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main ST, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Bro. Blake Jessie will be officiating Visitation is requested from 4 to 9pmCT, Sunday, March 7, 2010 and after 7amCT, Monday, March 8, 2010 until time of the funeral service, at the funeral home.



Henry Wood Bagby, 85, Green Co. native (1924-2010)

Mr. Henry Wood Bagby of Louisville, Kentucky, son of the late Finis A. Bagby and Hattie Chaney Bagby was born on Saturday November 29, 1924 in Green County, Kentucky and departed this life on Friday, March 5, 2010 at the Summerfield Health and Rehab Center in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. He was 85 years, 3 months, and 4 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Ralph Avenue Baptist Church in Shively, KY. He was retired from American Standard in 1985 having worked for 35 years. He was also a veteran of WWII having served in the United States Navy.

He united in marriage to Shivel Ortense Scoggy Bagby on August 10, 1945 who preceded him in death on December 28, 2008.

Survivors include the following:
  • Two daughters: Beverly Ann Cayton of North Carolina and Barbara Nan Burnette of Virginia

  • Two brothers and a sister: Lapsley Bagby of Louisville, KY; and Johnny Bagby and Elsie Cook both of Greensburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren

  • Sixteen great-grandchildren

  • Four great-great grandchildren

  • And a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Bagby was also preceded in death by five brothers and a sister: Coy Bagby, Roy Bagby, Mac Bagby, Lindal Bagby, Joe Bagby, Oris Bagby and Mary Francis Bagby.
