LWC, Columbia Baptist Church celebrate century old partnership Click on headline for story plus photo(s) By Duane Bonifer The century-long relationship between Lindsey Wilson College and Columbia Baptist Church was celebrated Sunday morning, February 7, 2010. Columbia Baptist Church held a special "Lindsey Wilson College Celebration Day" to mark the common partnership between the two institutions. The Rev. G. Ted Taylor of Columbia Baptist Church noted that the church played an important role in 1902 when the Methodist Episcopal Church, South held the Louisville Annual Conference in Columbia. The 57th Annual Conference was held at the Adair County Courthouse in part to curry local favor to found what would become Lindsey Wilson Training School. Columbia Baptist Church, along with several other Protestant denominations, helped welcome the conference delegates to Columbia. Sunday's celebration also included a special breakfast for LWC students, performance by the Lindsey Wilson Singers, recognition of the college's nationally ranked men's and women's soccer teams, and remarks by Lindsey Wilson President William T. Luckey Jr. This story was posted on 2010-02-08 13:06:12
