Lindsey Wilson, Campbellsville U help Haiti earthquake victims

Donations will be taken. Ticket sales to games tonight with Campbellsville University will be donated to the Haiti disaster

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College and Campbellsville University doubleheader on Thursday will serve as another opportunity to help the victims of last week's Haiti earthquake. Money donations will be accepted at gate, as well

With the help of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), the LWC Student Activities Board, LWC Residence Life and the two athletic departments encourage those attending the games to be a part of the relief effort.

The doubleheader begins with the women's game at 5pmCT.



More than 70,000 perished in the tragedy with more still missing.

During Thursday's doubleheader, donations will be accepted in order to help those who have been affected by this disaster. Proceeds from tickets sales will also be donated to the Haiti relief efforts.

Donation bins for the items will be at the entrance, and items that can be brought for donation are as follows:
  • One (1) Gallon Ziploc Plastic Bags
  • Hand towels (15"x25" to 17"x27", no kitchen towels)
  • Washcloths
  • Combs (large and sturdy, not pocket sized)
  • Nail files or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
  • Bath-size bars of soap (3 oz. and up)
  • Toothbrushes (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-sized brushes)
  • Adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages (Band Aids)
Important Kit Information:
  • All items in kits must be NEW
  • All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested items--nothing more.
  • Do NOT include any personal notes, money or additional materials for the kits.
Monetary donations for the purchase of items for emergency kits will also be accepted at the game. The cost of one kit is approximately $12.
