By Vonnie Kolbenschlag

The Columbia Woman's Club will meet Tuesday, January 26 at 6pmCT in the lower level of the Chamber of Commerce Building, 201 Burkesville ST, Columbia, KY, lower level.

The program is Public Issues and the speaker will be County Judge Executive, Ann Melton, speaking on the topic, "Your New Courthouse."

All women interested in becoming members are cordially invited to attend.

The Adair County News on October 16, 1923 had the following news:
"Mrs. W. H. Shanks of Stanford, Ky, Gov. of the Federation of Women's Clubs in the Eighth District, and Mrs. Cleaver of Lebanon, Gov. of the Fourth District, visited Columbia last Monday; their purpose being to organize a Woman's Federated Club of Columbia and Adair County.

"The meeting was held in the Bank of Columbia, the officers of that Institution having kindly provided a beautiful room to be used by the ladies of the town and county for their club meetings.

"Mrs. Shanks presided over the meeting, this county being in her district. After explaining the purpose of the Federation of Women's Clubs, a motion was made and carried that the Self Culture Club of Columbia be reorganized and merged into the Adair County Woman's Club.

Any woman in the county who so desires may become a member of this club. The initiation fee for membership is $1.25. The yearly dues for subsequent years is 35 cents."
All ladies of the town and county who are interested in this work are requested to be present and become members of this club.

For over 80 years the Columbia Woman's Club has been in existence. Dues are more now than they were in 1923, but the invitation remains the same.
