Trucker urges slower drivers to remember to keep right Comment by Mark Hale I too thank the KSP for the warning of passing on the right, however there is also a law in place that tells slower drivers to "keep right" or "keep right except to pass." This is just as much of a law as not passing on the right. I'll be the first to say and I bet many others do as well, if you're doing the speed limit in the left lane and someone in front of you is doing one-half the speed limit in the left lane and won't get in the lane in which they belong, I''m passing on the right. Seems many drivers think they are the only ones on the road and no one else has anywhere to be etc. If law enforcement wants to issue citations for passing on the right, that's OK, but they should also issue a citation to the person holding up the left lane.As a truck driver, I am on many interstates where there are three lanes in one direction, and I am not allowed to be in the left lane. A lot of people don't know that.I am not supposed to pass another vehicle in the left lane in a big truck in that situation. So I'm supposed to hold up everyone behind me because some thoughtless person won't get over to the right? I don't think so. One way or another I will safely pass the inconsiderate slowpoke. All I am saying is if everyone would drive the way the rules of the road are written we would not have these problems. But as sure as time goes on there will always be drivers on the road who do not consider anyone else but themselves to matter.My advice is to be careful, watch out for the other guy, expect him/her to do something stupid (like pull out in front of an 80,000 lb big rig and expect them to stop on a dime), and consider the other driver has a place to be as well as you do. I try to keep in mind that every driver on the road has someone at home that loves and needs them so I don't want anybody to get hurt. Everybody is important to someone else.
