Patty Jones: A thank you and a challenge

". . . in spite of the outcome the staff at Col. Wm. Casey Elementary will continue to do what has been done there for the past 50 years....provide the best education possible to our students with the resources and facilities we have." -PATTY JONES

A Great School in need of a better facility!

I wanted to thank you and everyone in our community that supported the proposed nickel tax and it's possible impact on the education of our children.

Unfortunately we did not all see this issue with the same eyes or vision.

While I realize that all who voted against the tax were not directing it at the students who now, and in the future, will attend school in the Col. Wm. Casey building, that is exactly who is affected the most by their decision.

With that in mind I challenge those who opposed the tax to come up with answers to the problems that still exist the day after. These include:
  1. A roof in need of replacement
  2. An electrical system incapable of maintaining the necessary educational technology and equipment for a 21st century education
  3. A heating and cooling system that is inefficient and ineffective
  4. A plumbing system that is crumbling beneath us
  5. A building that has major security issues due to the condition of its windows and doors
As stated earlier these are just the major problems that we must now try to solve on our own without help from state funding. I am open to suggestions on how these issues that face our 425 primary age students each day can be addressed.

As stated earlier, in spite of the outcome the staff at Col. Wm. Casey Elementary will continue to do what has been done there for the past 50 years....provide the best education possible to our students with the resources and facilities we have. Again, to all who supported our efforts, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
