Joe Hare: Brass tacks time; time to vote FOR tax '. . . now I am asking this community to get out and vote tomorrow (Tuesday , Dec 15th) and pass this tax.' - JOE HARE Commentary from voter who carefully weighed issues before deciding to Vote FOR: On an issue he asked more hard questions about than possibly anyone else, writer says, "I believe that it will cost us less to have this tax now, than what may come down the road if we vote it down." And having said that, he says we've learned a lesson in how to maintain good government: Stay involved By Joe Hare Nickel Tax Questions Answered Well, Ed, it is getting down to "brass tack" time on this Nickel Tax issue. I have listened to a lot of positive and negative on the tax and I have tried to ask some fairly pointed, but relevant questions. I have not paid much attention as to who is for or aganist and make up my own mind. I am sure some people thought that I was "talking out of both sides of my mouth"; by asking and then saying I was for the tax. I was in hope that there would be a lot of questions ask by the public and get all this out on the table, so that we as a community can move on in a positive manner. Had leaned negative over weekend Over the weekend I began to lean to the negative side, as I weighed all the information that I was able to obtain, but the answers that I have heard today have finally convinced me that passage is the correct and best think for all of Adair County. Asking community to get out and vote and pass this tax Up until now the letters I have written have been stating my position and asking questions, but now I am asking this community to get out and vote tomorrow (Tuesday , Dec 15th) and pass this tax. I know, this sounds crazy to be asking for a tax on ourselves, but I believe that it will cost us less to have this tax now, than what may come down the road if we vote it down. Hopes we have learned a lesson What ever the outcome of this vote I hope we have learned a lesson and we as citizens need to stay involved in what is going on in the community. We need to make sure all government is held accountable to us, and that is done by election, questions and staying informed. I'm not talking about just "bad mouthing" someone for what they have done, rather, take hold and do something the correct way and be positive to uplift this whole county. God Bless Adair County -Joe Hare This story was posted on 2009-12-15 02:41:57
