First Barber Shop in the Conover Hotel 1898 By "Jim" There was a barber shop in the Conover Hotel almost from the moment the doors opened for business 111 years ago this week. The December 7 edition of the News carried the announcement that "Mr. W.T. Price is now in possession of his new quarters in the Conover Hotel and if you want to be divested of your hair and whiskers there is no place in the state better prepared to do the work..."
