SCC Economics Professor presents paper in Atlanta, GA Somerset Community College co-authored Innovative Leadership Preparation: What Works and Why as part of doctoral program at University of Kentucky Click on headline for full story and photo By Dave Cazalet, Jr., SCC Director of Public Relations SCC Economics Professor Chris Phillips recently presented a scholarly paper, which he co-authored, at the Southern Regional Council of Educational Administrators held in Atlanta, GA, October 15-16, 2009. The paper is part of Phillips' work in the doctoral program at the University of Kentucky in community college leadership. The paper is entitled, Innovative Leadership Preparation: What Works and Why. The presentation was part of a symposium discussing, Partnership Cohort to Prepare Community College Leaders: Participant Perspectives. The UK doctoral cohort is a partnership with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System to prepare future KCTCS leaders. Phillips and his classmates are beginning the dissertation phase of the program, which they hope to complete in 2011. Phillips is a graduate of the Leadership East Kentucky (2006), Somerset-Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class (2003), the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) President's Leadership Seminar (2002), and the University of Kentucky (UK) Leadership Academy (1998). Phillips has taught at SCC for 12 years and has degrees in economics from the University of Tennessee, Western Kentucky University and the University of Kentucky. Phillips is also a graduate of Pulaski County High School and Somerset Community College. Phillips and his wife, Leslie, live in Somerset. She teaches Special Education at Oak Hill Elementary School.
