COLUMBIA, KY- A children's play isn't just for children.

In the mind of Lindsey Wilson College Associate Professor of Communication Susan Minton, the story of Cinderella is a timeless escape for adults and children alike "from what might be a bad day."

Students in Minton's theater classes will perform Cinderella 7 p.m. CT Thursday, Nov. 19, in Lindsey Wilson College's V. P. Henry Auditorium. The performance is free and open to the public and comes comes after two days of performing it for area school children.

For a few minutes, Cinderella, run ragged by her famously wicked step-sisters and step-mother, can have a bad day and audience members can watch.

"Cinderella is my favorite fairytale of them all, and most children's favorite," Minton said. "We want to expose the community, its children and the student body at Lindsey Wilson College to children's theater. We want audience members to recapture a part of childhood they may have forgotten, or perhaps hadn't experienced before"

Minton said the performance of Cinderella is as "an opportunity for the student body to come out and support their fellow students and relax, all on a college student's budget." Young and old can "let their guard down and experience the wonders of theater. And perhaps learn a lesson or two along the way," she said.

Minton's theater students while be joined by students from her "Freshman Experience" class, who will be the evening's opening act.

In a series of brief skits, the "Freshman Experience" students will reenact incidents that had happened to them or to others during the semester.

In the best tradition of the theater, "our student players will have the chance to touch lives," Minton said. "They'll learn that acting is more to it than just being in a play."

Lindsey Wilson College theater students will perform Cinderella 7pmCT Thursday, November 19, 2009, in V.P. Henry Auditorium 210 Lindsey Wilson ST, Columbia, KY. The performance is free and open to te public. For more information, contact Associate Professor of Communication Susan Minton at mintons@lindsey.edu or (270) 384-8141.

One of these signs could save your life or the life of someone you love

(ADV) FFA Address Marker orders may be placed at Four Adair Co., KY businesses
We are announcing a new option to make it more convenient for people to place orders and pick up signs puchased from the Adair County FFA. Two local businesses have agreed to provide a location for people to place an order and pick up their sign when it is finished. You can now place an order at:

  • Day and Day Feed and Pet, 1011 Campbellsville RD, Columbia, KY

  • M & W Milling, 510 Short ST., Columbia, KY

  • Hardscratch Grocery, 7289 Hwy 55 South Road, Columbia, KY. In the Glensfork Community of Adair County. Phone (270) 384-4671

  • Burton Ace Hardware, 314 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY. Phone (270) 384-2696
We will pick up the orders every few days and call the person when the sign is ready to be picked up. Signs are still $15 and are a hot item for Chistmas since they fit perfectly into a large stocking. They are about the best gift I can think of for the person that already has everything and is hard to shop for. If a person wants a sign by Christmas, they will have to get their order in by December 15, 2010. which is the last day of school before break. Orders placed after this date will not likely be filled until after the New Year. -Kirby Hancock, Advisor, Adair County FFA
