H1N1 flu clinic for ACES, CWC, and JAIS students

Clinic date is Wednesday, November 11, 2009.

By Brenda Mann

The Lake Cumberland District Health Department will be providing H1N1 flu vaccine clinics for elementary students in the Adair County School District on Wednesday, November 11, 2009.

A clinic will be provided for students at the Adair Elementary School from 9am to 2pmCT, a morning clinic from 9am to 11:30amCT for Colonel William Casey students and an afternoon clinic from 11:45am to 2pmCT for John Adair Intermediate students (ending clinic times may be shortened depending on the number of student vaccine requests.)

Vaccine informational packets including a parent/guardian consent form were sent home with Colonel William Casey, Adair Elementary and John Adair students on Friday, November 6.

Parents please check your child’s backpack for this information and return the consent form by Tuesday, November 10 if you want your child to receive the H1N1 flu vaccine. Parents do not have to be present; however parents wishing to accompany their child during the vaccine are welcome to do so.

If your child did not receive the vaccine clinic information, contact your child’s school and request the information.

The 2009 H1N1 nasal mist will be offered and a limited number of H1N1 injectable vaccines have been reserved for students with underlying health conditions.

The clinics are only for students and staff of the Adair County Elementary Schools mentioned above who meet the priority groups identified by the Center for Disease Control. The H1N1 vaccine mist and shot have been approved by the FDA and deemed safe for all school aged children.

Please contact the Adair County Health Department at (270) 384-2286 for more information or contact your child’s school nurse at Adair Elementary (270) 384-0077, Colonel William Casey (270) 384-3367 or John Adair Intermediate (270) 384-3341.
