The Adair County Marching Band will be giving an encore performance of its 2009 show, "Water Dance" at Booster Field, 224 Gen. John Adair Drive, Columbia, KY, at 7pmCT, Tuesday night, November 10, 2009.

The band is less than two weeks away from departure for New York City for the historic appearance in the 2009 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, and excitement surrounding the band has never been higher.

First year director Tom Case, who says he's highly pleased with the band. "There are so many positives from this marching band season," he said.

"We hadgreat senior and student leadership," the new director noted, which helped with the transition. "Whenever there is change, it's never easy and I feel like the students in this band built a symbolic bridge from Adair's rich legacy with its past and has connected it with our band's future."

And he's philosophical about the razor thin margin by which the band missed first place in the Class AAA competiton at State, saying, "We were excited to be in first place after semi-finals, and I am proud of the students for maintaining such a strong focus leading up to the finals run. In finals, three judges had us, and three judges had Bourbon County. In the end, they edged us out by four tenths of a point, and although it hurts, we have no problems with the results."

He added, "Bourbon County is a great band with a great band director." The director is an alumnus of Adair County, with many relatives here, Eric Hale.

There is so much to look forward to this year, which still includes the Macy's appearance, and about the coming seasons. "We are very excited about the rest of the school year, and even more excited about the potential of next year's band," he said.

Mr. Case added, "I'd like to thank the people of Adair, our superintendent, Mr. Treece, our Board of Education, our high school principal Mr. Young, and our incredible band boosters for their support for our program."
