SCC College Transfer Caravanvisiting students at SCC sites

The Office of Student Affairs at Somerset Community College has organized a College Transfer Caravan which will bring recruitment specialists from 13 four-year colleges and universities around Kentucky to both SCC campuses in Somerset and London and to three of its four satellite centers in McCreary, Clinton and Russell Counties.


"This is the time of year that SCC students and high school students need to be thinking about applying to college," said Roger Hollars, a student affairs counselor based on the SCC Somerset Campus North. "We are going to bring this opportunity out to the students at most of our centers and both campuses. Students will be able to check the transferability of their SCC courses, discuss financial aid, and get other information about a lot of different colleges."

Hollars, who is helping to organize the SCC College Caravan, said that parents and high school student are welcome to visit any of the Caravan stops.

Four-year universities involved in the SCC College Caravan include: Union College, Midway College, Lindsey-Wilson College, Campbellsville University, Western Kentucky University, Eastern Kentucky University, the University of Kentucky, the University of Louisville, Georgetown College, Morehead State University, the University of the Cumberlands, Mid-Continent University, and Indiana Wesleyan University.

The SCC College Caravan will be at the following locations. Time zones as indicated:
  • Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009: SCC Laurel Campus North, 100 University Drive, London, KY Student Lounge, Building #2, 10am to 1pmET and at SCC McCreary Center, 250 College Street, Whitley City, KY, 3pm to 6pmET

  • Wednesday, November 11, 2009: SCC Somerset Campus North, 808 Monticello ST, Somerset, KY, Harold Rogers Student Commons, 10am to 1pmET, and at SCC Russell Center, 848 West Steve Wariner DR, Russell Springs, KY, from 2pm to 5pmCT.

  • Thursday, November 12. 2009. SCC Somerset Campus North, 808 Monticello ST, Somerset, KY Harold Rogers Student Commons, 10am to 1pmET, and at SCC Clinton Center, 1273 KY Hwy. 90W, Albany, KY, 2pmCT to 5pmCT.
