Obituary: Ruby H. Burton, 78, Adair County, KY

She was a member of a large, respected Adair Co., KY, family. She leaves 79 living descendants. Mrs. Burton was a member of New Victory Baptist Church

Ruby H. Burton, age 78 years a resident of The Grandview Nursing & Rehab inCampbellsville, KY, formerly of Columbia, Ky. passed away Friday, October 9, 2009 at 8:50pmCT, at Grandview Nursing & Rehab.

The funeral service will be Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 10:00amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, wth Bro. Rick Neff and Bro. F. W. Reece the officiating clergy. Interment will be in Bearwallow Cemetery, 6080 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation after 4:00pm on Friday October 16, 2009.



Ruby H. Burton, Adair Co., KY

She was the daughter of the late Samuel L. and Zula Bertha Jessie Reece and wasborn on September 7, 1931. She died October 9, 2009, at the age of 78 years, 1 month, and 2 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband Oliver L. Burton on August 1, 2002

She is survived by the following:
  • Four sons: Lee Burton and wife Beverly, Dunreith, IN; Oliver Dale Burton and wife Sherry, Russell Springs, KY; Rodger L. Burton and wife Sylvia of Frankfort, Germany; Rev. Eldon F. Burton and wife Cindy, Somerset, KY

  • Three daughters: Susan Wauford and husband, Jimmy of Liberty, KY;Lorene Adams and husband Terry of Dwight, IL; Cyndi Haywood & husband Ed of Campbellsville, KY

  • One brother: Bro. F. W. Reece of Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters: Christine Bradshaw and Louvern Lee, Columbia, KY

  • Thirty-two grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends survive.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Angela Burton, eight brothers, one infant brother and three sisters: James Clifford, Chester, Rollin, Amos, Charlie, Carl, Coy abd Curtis Reece, Polly England, Maggie Sneed and Dimple Lee.

She was a member of New Victory Baptist Church in Russell Springs, KY.
