Hospital Auxiliary News: Final plans made for Health Fair Items considered at September 21, 2009 meeting:
By Sue C. Stivers, Chairman Membership & Public Relations The Westlake Regional Hospital Auxiliary met Monday, September 21, 2009 at 6:30pmCT at the Hospital Cafe for their monthly meeting. President Margaret Sparks called the meeting to order by welcoming those in attendance. Financial report by Treasurer Evelyn Phelps Due to the absence of Sharon Harris the minutes of the past meeting was not read. The Financial report was given by Treasurer Evelyn Phelps. Plans being finalized for Health Fair The major item of business for the night was finalizing plans for the Health Fair. The major responsibility for the Auxiliary being the food booth under the tent, providing home baked foods such as cakes, pies, breads, cookies, brownies, etc., selling tickets on the piece of crystal from the gift shop, overseeing the free tickets on the TV and other items associated with the health fair. This is the largest fund raising event the Auxiliary has during the year. Cards sent to Wanda Bardin, Bobbie Ellis Burton, L.G. Blakey family Cards were signed by the members and will be sent to: Wanda Bardin - Thinking of You, Bobbie Ellis Burton - Get Well, and the L.G. Blakey Family - Sympathy. Workers needed for gift shop President Sparks reminded members that volunteer workers are needed in the gift shop. Anyone interested should contact President Sparks at (270) 384-4139. Scrub sale will November 16 and 18, 2009 Under new business, President Sparks announced that the Scrub Sale will be held November 16 and 18th in the lobbyof the Hospital. Additional information will provided at a later date. Program: Each member shared household tip The program of the evening consisted of each member sharing a household tip along with Shirley Grider leading the group in some games that was educational as well as fun. President Sparked read a poem entitled "What I have Learned" which was enjoyed by everyone. Hostesses Yvonne Marshall and Evelyn Phelps Hostess for the evening were Yvonne Marshall and Evelyn Phelps. They served delicious "homemade cakes" and ice cream to those in attendance: Charles Barnes, Delwin Blair, Lloyd French, Shirley Grider, Lila Loy, Charles Marshall, Shirley Reliford, Margaret Sparks, Sue Stivers, Betty Thorsen, and Mary Evelyn Walker. Next meeting Monday, October 19, 2009 The next meeting will be Monday, October 19, 2009 at 6:30pmCT at the Hospital Cafe. Mary Hadley and Shirley Grider will be the hostess. All members are encouraged to attend. The welcome mat is extended to any person who is interested in the goals of the Hospital Auxiliary.
