By Linda Hitchcock, Glasgow Musicale VP and Publicist

Glasgow Musicale is the oldest Music Club in Kentucky, since 1894, with membership in the National and Kentucky Federation of Music Clubs. Last year Musicale sent 25 students, vocal and band, on scholarship  to the prestigious Stephen Foster Music Camp held on campus at EKU in Richmond, KY.

Despite our small population, Glasgow Musicale sent the most students with the largest funding, $6400. We would like to extend an invitation to Columbia area residents to come join us to enjoy Musicale events, most of which are free and always family friendly. The ones with a charge have all fees going to the caterer.

Barbara Pendleton, wife of Columbia accountant John R. Pendleton, is a past President of the Musicale.

Contact for joining, reservations: are Eldon and Faye Smith, 323 Seay Street, Glasgow, KY 42141. Phone (270) 651-5394 Readers may contact Eldon and Faye about membership and/or reservations and payment for the meal for the kickoff event. They may also email me, Linda Hitchcock, at linduck@gmail.com for additional information. Membership levels are $25 per individual; $35 per family; $50 for patron. Anyone can contribute to the Stephen Foster Music Camp Scholarship Fund without membership with designated checks sent to the co-treasurers, Eldon and Faye Smith. Glasgow Musicale is a 501-c-3 nonprofit Music Club with all contributions beyond dues tax deductible.

Kick-off performance: Glasgow Musicale presents The Brass Quintet, at First Christian Church, 1100 North Race Street, Glasgow, KY 42141/ $10 per person Ham dinner in Fellowship Hall on Saturday, September 26, 2009. 6:00pmCT. Paid reservations are required for this event.

Thanks for your interest!
