KSP promotes 2 to sergeant, prior to transfers to Post 15

Tpr. Gregory Brown, Russell Springs, promoted to sergeant; Tpr. William H. Elliotte, Corbin, also promoted to sergeant

FRANKFORT, KY - The Kentucky State Police announced the promotion of 30 officers at a special ceremony held today at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort. Two new Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) majors were commissioned along with four new KSP captains, eight new lieutenants and 16 new sergeants.

Two promotions are at Post 15, Columbia, KY:


  • Tpr. Gregory A. Brown was promoted to sergeant and transferred from KSP Post 15 in Columbia to the Internal Affairs Branch in Frankfort. A native of Brodhead and a resident of Russell Springs, Brown is an 11-1/2-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. William H. Elliottewas promoted to sergeant and transferred from KSP Post 11 in London to Post 15 in Columbia. A resident of Corbin, Elliotte is a 13-year KSP veteran

  • Other promotions include:

  • Capt. Van O. Howard was promoted to major and transferred from commander of CVE Region 6 to commander of the CVE East Troop. A native and resident of Salyersville, Howard is a 16-year CVE veteran

  • Capt. David G. Jenkins was promoted to major and transferred from commander of CVE Region 2 to commander of the CVE West Troop. A resident of Rineyville and a native of Elizabethtown, Jenkins is a 20-year CVE veteran

  • Lt. John R. Carrico, Jr. was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to the Criminal Identification and Records Branch in Frankfort as commander. A native of Springfield and a resident of Lawrenceburg, Carrico is a 23-year KSP veteran

  • Lt. John L. McMahan was promoted to captain and transferred from KSP Post 13 in Hazard to the Inspections and Evaluations Branch in Frankfort. A native of Lotts Creek and a resident of Hazard, McMahan is a 16-year KSP veteran

  • Lt. Robert A. Shoultz was promoted to captain and transferred from the West Drug Enforcement Special Investigations Branch to KSP Post 16 in Henderson. A native of Mt. Carmel, Ill. and a resident of Henderson, Shoultz is an 11-year KSP veteran

  • Lt. Leslie E. Smith was promoted to captain and will remain assigned to KSP Post 10 in Harlan as commander. A native of Georgetown, Ohio and a resident of Cumberland, Smith is a 23-year KSP veteran

  • Sgt. Jason B. Adams was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from KSP Post 10 in Harlan to Post 2 in Madisonville. A native of Lynch and a resident of Harlan, Adams is an 11-year KSP veteran

  • Sgt. David L. Banks was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from KSP Post 13 in Hazard to Post 7 in Richmond. A native of Litt Carr and a resident of Mallie, Banks is an 18-year KSP veteran

  • Sgt. Brian S. Bowling was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from KSP Post 6 in Dry Ridge to Post 1 in Mayfield. A native of Bethel and a resident of Flemingsburg, Bowling is a 16-year KSP veteran

  • Sgt. Marshall B. Johnson was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from KSP Post 12 in Frankfort to Post 16 in Henderson. A native and resident of Lexington, Johnson is an 11-year KSP veteran.

  • Sgt. David P. Jude was promoted to lieutenant and will remain assigned to the Media Relations Branch in Frankfort as commander. A native of Ashland and a resident of Paris, Jude is a 10-year KSP veteran

  • Sgt. Steven J. Long was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from the KSP Academy Branch in Frankfort to the Supply Branch. A resident of Versailles, Long is a 14-year KSP veteran

  • Sgt. Darren S. Stapleton was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from KSP Post 9 in Pikeville to Post 4 in Elizabethtown. A native of Elkhorn City and a resident of Stanville, Stapleton is an 11-year KSP veteran

  • Sgt. Jerry M. Wise was promoted to lieutenant and transferred from KSP Post 12 in Frankfort to the Criminal Identification and Records Branch. A resident of Lawrenceburg, Wise is a 19-1/2-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Harvey E. Baxter was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to the KSP Recruitment Branch in Frankfort. A resident of Richmond, Baxter is a seven-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. James R. Catron was promoted to sergeant and transferred from KSP Post 13 in Hazard to Post 10 in Harlan

  • Tpr. Jaman M. Childers was promoted to sergeant and transferred from KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green to Post 6 in Dry Ridge. A native and resident of Morgantown, Childers is a 14-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Todd B. Combs was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 3 in Bowling Green. A native of Lexington and a resident of Bowling Green, Combs is nine-and-a-half-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Anthony L. Fannin was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 8 in Morehead. A native of Winchester and a resident of Clay City, Fannin is a 17-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Robert E. Farley was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 10 in Harlan. A native and resident of Harlan, Farley is an eight-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Charles H. Kelton was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 5 in Campbellsburg. A native and resident of Bedford, Kelton is an 11-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Gary M. Lafferty was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to the KSP Employee Assistance Branch in Frankfort. A native of Paintsville and a resident of Elizabethtown, Lafferty is a 14-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Jeremy T. Lee was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to KSP Post 10 in Harlan. A native and resident of Harlan, Lee is a seven-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Jacqualine A. Pickrell was promoted to sergeant and transferred from KSP Post 13 in Hazard to the Criminal Identification and Records Branch in Frankfort. A native and resident of Whitesburg, Pickrell is a seven-year KSP veteran.

  • Tpr. Thomas A. Pyzik was promoted to sergeant and will remain assigned to the KSP Academy Branch in Frankfort. A native of Versailles and a resident of Berea, Pyzik is a 10-year KSP veteran.Tpr. Trent B. Weaver was promoted to sergeant and transferred from KSP Post 1 in Mayfield to Post 3 in Bowling Green. A native of Paducah and a resident of Murray, Weaver is an 11-1/2-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Michael A. Wolfe was promoted to sergeant and transferred from KSP Post 8 in Morehead to Post 7 in Richmond. A native and resident of Jackson, Wolfe is a nine-and-a-half-year KSP veteran

  • Tpr. Jimmy W. Young, II was promoted to sergeant and transferred from Special Operations, Canine Section to Post 10 in Harlan. A native and resident of Pineville, Young is a seven-year KSP veteran
