Charlie Morrison RD, Chance, KY scenes bring back memories

About: Back Up and Read Again Signs on Charlie Morrison Road

ColumbiaMagazine.com:

This sure brings back memories as I'm trying to get back to my roots.

I stumped my toe on every rock in the places you mentioned.

In fact the road is named for my Grandfather. When I was a very small boy, my grandfather, Charlie Morrison organized the neighbors to volunteer work to build the road. I guess that is where I got the gene for volunteer work.

I must have been between 4 and 7 years old, because I remember them loading creek sand on Dad's dump truck with a two horse double shovel scoop running it up timbers.

You are correct: It is a beautiful drive especially in the Fall when the leaves are turning.

We were always somewhat looked down on being from Harvey's Ridge, Chance, KY, but I'm proud of my roots.

It is about as far back as you can get in Adair County, South Central Kentucky, but had good people. I must take time to get back out there. Now I am motivated.
