Mr. Compton as a member of a large, respected family of South Adair and Eastern Metcalfe Counties

Rural Houston Compton, 67, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009.

The funeral service for Rural Houston Compton will be Thursday, August 20, 2009, at 11:00amET at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home, 4895 North Preston Hwy. Shepherdsville, KY (Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd.). Interment in Brookland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00pmET until 8:00pmET on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at the funeral home.



Rural Houston Compton, 67 (August 28, 1942 - August 16, 2009)

Rural Houston Compton was born August 28, 1942, in Metcalfe Co., KY, the son of the late James Robert and Josie Coomer Compton. He passed away Sunday, August 16, 2009, at his home in Louisville, KY, after a short illness, making his days just short of 67 years: 66 years, 11 months, and 19 days.

He is survived by his wife, Marianne Sweeney Compton, Louisville, KY, and the following:
  • One daughter: Rosemary Harvey and husband Steve, Louisville, KY

  • Two step daughters: Suzanne Hendrickson of CA, and Kirsten Hendrickson, Georgetown, KY

  • Two sisters: Marcella Wagoner, Glasgow, KY, and Martha Lacy, Breeding, KY

  • Three brothers: Ralph Compton, Breeding, KY: Bee Compton, Glasgow, KY; and Billy Compton, Louisville, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Kaela and Rhiannon Harvey

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
