Two vehicle fatal collision occurs west of Edmonton, KY

Driver of one vehicle pronounced deceased at TJ Samson Hospital; passenger airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville; driver of other vehicle airlifted to UL Hospital

The Kentucky State Police Post 15 Columbia is investigating a two vehicle fatal collision that occurred, around 8:00amCT this morning, Saturday, August 8, 2009, on US 68, approximately 5.4 miles west of Edmonton, in Metcalfe Co., KY.

A vehicle being operated by 52 year old Floyd Lowe of Edmonton was traveling west on US 68. Lowe's vehicle left the roadway, striking an earth embankment.



Lowe's vehicle overturned and re-entered the roadway, where it was struck by a vehicle being operated by Kendon Horton of Glasgow. Horton, 32 years of age, was transported to TJ Samson Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

A passenger in the Horton vehicle, 12 year old Cassie Horton, was airlifted to Kosair Children's Hospital.

Both occupants in the Horton vehicle were wearing seatbelts. Lowe, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital.

The collision is being investigated by Sgt. Jamie Heller. Sgt. Heller was assisted at the scene by Tpr. Andy Olson, Tpr. David Smith, Tpr. Ricky Brooks, Metcalfe County Sheriff Department, and the Metcalfe County Fire and Rescue.
