Epicurean Comment: Longing for AC tomato sandwich

About: Incredibly fresh produce from Gene and Joyce Hoots

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

I have actually had a dream about a tomato sandwich, and can't wait to get one next week! What great looking tomatoes!

s/Mary Keltner

Thanks for acknowledging this delicacy. This is the time of year when Adair County is at its most egalitarian. We can all - rich and poor - alike, enjoy the world's best tomato sandwiches, properly made with a lightly sea-salted 3/4' center cut of Big Boy, between sweet slices of white bread, slathered with mayo on both slices, not like some - like my first wife - from Metcalfe County do, and lazily put the white goodness on just one slice. Doesn't get any better and the tomatoes have never been better than this year. An excellent choice for one's last meal on earth or first feast in heaven. -Ed Waggener
