First tomato from tree of AGCC member is 3 lbs.!

Click on headline for story + photo of whopper tomato

By Barbara Armitage

Adair County Garden Club members really grow tomatoes. Dianne Loy has waited patiently for her grown from seed tomato tree to begin producing this year and it looks like her patience paid off. Her very first tomato tipped the scales at a whopping 3 pounds making it by far the largest tomato she has ever grown. She is harvesting seeds this year and has offered to share them her fellow gardeners.

We can't promise that all your tomatoes will be this big but if there's a way to learn more about gardening you can bet that the Adair County Garden Club is involved. Come and meet Dianne and all her gardening friends. For more information about the Adair County Garden Club contact Barbara Armitage at 270.250.2979 or email us at adaircountygardenclub@gmail.com
Editor note: While this is a fairly nice size tomato and a center slice would make an OK topping for a dressed hamburger, we would warn emulators that it would actually take nearly two of them to make this recipe for Tomato wine
