Obituary: Harris Leon Loy, 80, Glensfork, KY

He was a member of a large, respected Adair Co., KY family, a member of Pierce's Chapel Baptist Church, and a farmer, and a decorated Korean War veteran

Harris Leon Loy, 80, years of the Glensfork Community, went to be with his Lord on Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY afterseveral weeks illness.

The funeral service will be Monday, July 6, 2009 at 11:00amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Rev. William Karnes the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Loy Cemetery, 1740 Loy Cemetery Road, Columbia, KY, with full military rites presented by VFW Post 6097. The family request visiting after 2:30pmCT, Sunday, July 5, 2009, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



He was the son of the late Virgil and Tina Campell Loy of Adair Co. KY.He was born December 25, 1928 near Glensfork, KY

He served in the Korean War from 1950-1952 where he received the KoreanService Medal with 3 Bronze Camp Stars and was a member of the Pierce'sChapel Baptist Church and a farmer.

Survived by the following::
  • Two sisters: Delcie Fern Lucas and husband Gary of Rineyville, KY;and Wyneda Faye Sindlinger of Ann Arbor, MI

  • One brother: Raymond Loy of Ann Arbor, MI
  • And by several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Richard Loy and James Gailon Loy.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Loy Cemetery Fund, Pierce'sChapel Baptist Church or Gideons International and may be left at the funeral home.
