Father's Day Tribute to Odie Roy (Bouncer) Burton

Father's Day Anthology for June 21, 2009

By Ann Burton Murphy

I lost my dad, March 6, 1995, one day short of my 44th birthday.

To say I was a "Daddy's girl," is only putting it mildly.

He taught me how to fish and hunt. Those are the times that were very happy, for me. My two sisters had rather sit and watch Tv all day, but not me.

Daddy was always so proud of my school grades. I did my best, to please him. I gave him his only grandson, July 6, 1972. How I wish he could have known his two great grandsons. The second one, shares part of his great grandpa's name. My Dad is Odie Roy "Bouncer" Burton. His namesake is Kodie Roy Gadberry.

My dad and I loved to fish and so does Kodie and his dad. I have pictures of Kodie's Dad and Great Gandpa, where Daddy had caught big catfish. My dad was a natural, at whatever he did.

My mom went to join my dad, November 11, 2007. What a joyous reunion, that must have been.! I know she has told him all about his great grandsons.

Daddy, I love you and miss you and, Momma, I am looking forward to the day we will all be together, in Heaven.
