Corps of Engineers, GRL holding water safety contest Contest involves telling your story about being safe around water. Prizes include $100 gift certificate, inflatable boat By Larry Lemmon Have you ever had a situation in or around the water that you were not expecting? Maybe you have had an experience where you had to rely on some type of training, advice or safety equipment that saved you or someone else from drowning. Well, if so, we want to hear about it. The Corps of Engineers at Green River Lake is having a contest to raise awareness about the importance of being safe in and around the water and all you have to do is send in your story of Why You're Not a Drowning Statistic. If you send in your story, you will be entered to win a $100.00 gift card (redeemable at Campbellsville store). Second prize is an inflated boat, donated by a Taylor County business. Consider that each year more than 6,000 people drown in the United States and that two thirds of those people never had any attention of being in the water, your story will promote our message of Water Safety to the public and possibly save someone's life. To enter:Send your name, address, phone number, age, and your real life experience of why you're not a drowning statistic to Park Ranger Larry Lemmon at US Army Corps of Engineers, 544 Lake Road, Campbellsville, Kentucky or drop them by the Visitor Center at Green River Lake. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges and announced in August 2009. Remember to be safe and wear your lifejacket. We Care about your safety! This story was posted on 2009-06-12 04:28:20
