Problems with One Call warnings will be rectified, EMD says

System was supposed to notify residents of coming storm, but message was garbled, EMD Greg Thomas says. But Emergency Management is already taking steps to correct problems

By Greg Thomas, Adair Co. Emergency Management Director

Thursday night, June 11, 2009, at around 8:15pmCT, approximately 6,000 residents and business's in the Adair County area received a phone call from One Call and Adair County Emergency Management.

The number that showed up on my phone's caller ID at my home was (614) 384-2337.

When you answered the phone you heard chimes go off and they should have been followed by a message.

Some people were able to make out part of the message but some people did not hear any message at all. This message was sent to warn the citizens of Adair County of in coming weather conditions.

Somewhere in sending the message to One Call and One Call sending it out to you home over the phone lines the message was distorted and became unrecognizable.

This matter will be rectified in the future and messages will be clear.

This is a way Adair County has of letting its residents know of possible incoming danger and is a plus for the community at any hour of the day or night.

If you did not receive a phone call we would like to get you added to the list. Over the next few weeks you will be seeing information in the media and out in the pubic as to how you can add your home phone and cell phones to this early warning system.
